CM Jagan Mohan Reddy Announced the Release of the Fourth Installment

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan stated during the release of the fourth instalment that education alone can eradicate poverty and empower the people. The CM stated that the government is aiming for a 100% graduation rate as well as a 100% literacy rate in the state. Mr Reddy stated that the scheme is being introduced to provide access to education for the disadvantaged, particularly those who wish to pursue higher education without burdening their families.

He claimed that the money is directly deposited to the mothers’ accounts so that they may have a greater oversight of the institution’s facilities and students’ well-being, which would help improve college management’s responsibility. Beneficiaries were urged to contact the college administration or Vidya Deevena at the toll-free number 1902. The CM also stated that the government had taken steps to assist meritorious students who gained admission to private universities by enacting a law requiring that 50% of seats in the Medical and Dental streams and 35% of seats in Engineering and other courses be filled through convener quota.

On this occasion, he referred to the All India Survey on Higher Education, which showed that the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) of students between the ages of 17 and 23 in colleges climbed to 35.2 percent in Andhra Pradesh, a rise of 8.6 percent over the national average of 3.04 percent. While the GER of SC, ST, and female students climbed by 1.7 percent, 4.5 percent, and 2.27 percent nationally, the increase was 7.5 percent, 9.5 percent, and 11.03 percent in the state, respectively. He claimed that the government is also implementing Vasathi Deevena in addition to Vidya Deevena, spending Rs 9,274 crore on these two programmes alone.
